GIAP BAT BUS

STATION
•Giap Bat bus station is located at km6 of
Giai Phong road, Hoang Mai district. It is
the main bus station serving the south
destinations of the country. The station was
put into operation in 1989.
•This bus station provide pick-up and drop-
off point for both public and private bus
operators. The bus station area is 37,000
square meter in total.
NEIGHBORING
BUILDING
•The buildings in Giap Bat neighborhood have not many
distinct characteristic. They are all old and hulking residential
houses. The first floor of houses are use for shops and stores.
Motorbike parks at the sidewalk as a result blocking
pedestrians' way.
•Across the street is Giap Bat train Station. Therefore, leads to
unavoidable noise and disturbance.
•Giai Phong is a lively busy street. At rush hour, it often
experience congestion.
NODE AND
LANDMARK
•Near Giap Bat Bus Station there are some signification
destinations such as Giap Bat Train Station for freight
transportation, ECO Golf Club, Hoang Mai district central
post office and several banks.
•Edges are clearly defined by sidewalk, street and
waterside.

DIRECTION
In this area, all the residential
buildings are restricted in height.
Therefore, the station can get its
light source directed from the
sun.

In the winter, the wind comes


from the Northeast side flows
through Kim Dong lake. As a
result, making the site cooler.

In the summer, the hot wind


comes directly from the Southeast
side.

MASSING
This is a high-density neighborhood, houses are all townhouse, restricted in
height. Houses are shaped in rectangular form, attached together generates
rows that run along the street. Houses are built along the edges of the site
therefore creating an invisible boundary.
ECOLOGY AND
VEGETATION
Nearby the site, there are 2 big water features: Kim Dong lake
and Dam marsh.

Kim Dong lake acts as an air conditioner for the zone. It is Kim Dong
used as a public space for this residential area. Lake

Dam marsh and the area around is still an ongoing concern. It


is listed as a preserved greenery but in reality, it is used for
trash disposal and dump water.

ACCESS
• There are several ways to access to Giap Bat station from the suburb.
• From the South, there are Highway 3 and Route 1A lead to Giai Phong
Street.
• From the North, to enter Giai Phong street, taking Vinh Tuy bridge and
enter Dai La street then turn right at the junction.

HAZARD
• At Giap Bat Bus Station’s pathway is conflicted. As there is no specific pathway for
pedestrian, people often walk on coaches and trucks’ pathway. This might lead to unexpected
accidents.
• The waiting area and the pick-up area do not have enough seat for passenger, as
so people have to sit on the edges of the sidewalk or bring their own chair.
• The station is not designed to accommodate disabilities people.
