The Liturgy of the Eucharist
begins with the preparation of the
gifts and the altar.
As the ministers prepare the altar,
representatives of the people bring
forward the bread and wine that will
become the Body and Blood of Christ.
In the signs of the bread and wine the faithful people
put their own offering in the priest’s hands, who places it
on the altar or table of the Lord, “which is the center
of all the Eucharistic Liturgy”.
The center of the Mass is the altar, and
the altar is Christ.
The Eucharistic Prayer is the heart of
the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
In the Eucharistic Prayer we pray to God the
Father, through the Son, that the Holy Spirit will
transform bread and wine into the Body and
Blood of Christ so that we might enter deeper
communion with God and one another.
The Eucharistic Prayer, is the
prayer of thanksgiving and
sanctification.

Holy Communion augments our
union with Christ.
Communion with the flesh of the risen Christ, a
flesh "given life and giving life through the Holy
Spirit,“ preserves, increases, and renews the life
of grace received at Baptism.
Holy Communion separates us
from sin
Strengthens our Charity
Commits us to the poor
