Primary economic activity
• Primary activities are closely related to the
nature. In it, we got benefit from natural
resources directly. In it we harvest or extract
something from the earth. They are at the
beginning of the production cycle. Where
humans are in close contact with resources and
potentialities of the environment. E.g hunting,
grazing, agriculture, fishing and mining are
examples of it. Primary producers might be
labeled as “ Red Collar Worker”.

• It is another primary activity. Initially the
world’s forest covered some 45% of the earth but
now a day it reduces to 25 % to 30 %. Now in
these days no country can deny the importance
of forests.

• To extract something from the earth is called
mining.
Secondary Activities
• “The term manufacturing includes all those
activities by which man changes the form of raw
materials converting them into more useful
products and some amount of value is added”
• E.g Cotton to fiber, fiber to thread and thread to
cloth making
Tertiary activities
• These activities involves the services sector that
provide support to the primary and secondary to
the general community and to the individual,
these include business, professional, clerical and
personal services. They constitute the vital link
between producer and consumer. These activities
mostly concerned with wholesaling or retailing of
goods this group have been described as “Pink
collar”.
Quaternary activities
• Quaternary services represent a special type of
service including financial and health service
work, working in education, government
management, information processing and
research. The workers doing this type of activity
called “white collar” workers.
Quinary Activities
• The final grouping, quinary activities remains
more restricted in size in comparison to other
groups. The most visible persons in this group
includes chief executive officers and top
management executions. Research scientist,
legal authorities, financial advisors belong to this
cluster. Most of these activities occur in large
urban centers, universities, medical and research
centers. An appropriate label for this group is
the “ Gold Collar” workers.
