 A BHW is…
 A person who has undergone training program under any
accredited government and non-government organization
and who voluntarily renders primary health care services
in the community after having been accredited to function
as such by the health board in accordance with the
guidelines promulgated by the DOH.

BP Monitoring: Normal BP less than 120/80 mmHg

 Average BP: Thing to consider HBP Screening is done only ONCE


per patient
 Two readings are taken each arm
 If the difference of either systolic or diastolic exceeds 5 mmHg,
a 3rd reading is taken
 All readings are averaged
 The highest reading will be recorded

Program
 Importance of Prenatal Check-up:
 Detect any abnormality brought about by pregnancy, such
as high blood pressure, eclampsia or diabetes
 Nutritional status of the mother
 Growth, size and position of the baby in each trimester
 Presence of infection to the mother
 Help women and couples prepare for delivery and plan
subsequent pregnancy

 EPI (Expanded Program on Immunization) aims
to reduce neonatal, infant and child mortality
due to vaccine-preventable diseases
 Ensures normal growth and development of
infants by increasing resistance against
infections and preventing malnutrition.
