• Marico Limited is an Indian multinational consumer good company which deals in FMCG SECTOR providing

consumer products and services in the areas of health, beauty and wellness. With its headquarters
in Mumbai, Marico is present in over 25 countries across Asia and Africa. It owns brands in categories of
hair care, skin care, edible oils, health foods, male grooming, and fabric care such as Parachute, Saffola,
Hair & Care, Parachute Advanced, Nihar Naturals, and Medicare.
• 1971-Harsh Mariwala joined the family business- Bombay Oil Industries
• 1974- He envisioned a branded FMCG market for coconut and refined edible
oils in small consumer packs.
• 1990- 200 Employees walked out of Bombay oil and Marico was born on 2 nd
April
• 1991- Marico launched Hair and care oil
• 1992-1994- Marico shifted from being an exporter to a International
marketer
• 1996- Marico was listed on Indian stock exchange
• 2002- Marico formed India’s top of the line dermatology led clinic and also
ventured into the skin care solutions
• 2006- Nihar was entered into the market
• 2010- India woke up to saffola breakfast, masala oats which was yet an
another innovation of marico.
• 2011- Parachute was launched with its skin care category with body lotions
and other face creams
