government of India.
• In 1997, the government of India awarded him ‘Indira Gandhi Award for
National Integration’.
• In 2000, he was bestowed with ‘Ramanujan Award’.
• In 2007, he received ‘Kings Charles II medal’ from the Royal Society.
• He received the ‘Hoover Medal’ by the ASME Foundation, USA.
• The United Nations recognized Kalam’s 79th birthday as World Students’
Day.

• He must know how to manage success and most importantly the failures

• Every action of the leader should be transparent, leader must work with integrity and
succeed with integrity
DEATH
• Dr. Kalam collapsed while delivering a lecture at Indian Institute of Management (IIM)
Shillong.
• He was taken immediately to the nearest hospital in a critical condition. He was kept in
the intensive care unit but failed to show signs of life.
• He was declared dead on July 27, 2015 due to cardiac arrest.
• The former president of India was laid to rest with full state honors at his hometown,
Rameshwaram.
