•Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam was born on 15 October 1931 in

Rameswaram,Tamil Nadu. His father Jainulabdeen was a boat owner and
his mother was a housewife. In his school he describes as sincere, bright
and a hardworking student who had a strong desire to learn and spend
hours in studies, especially math’s.

•After completing his school Rameswaram Elementry School,he went to

graduate in physics at St.Josephs College,but was not very intresred
about this. So he moved to Madras in 1995 to study Aerospace
Engg..After graduating from Madras institute of Technology, Kalam joined
Aeronautical Development Establishment of Defense Research and
Development as a chief scientist.
 As an Aerospace Engineer.

He started his carrier by designing a small Helicopter for

Indian Army. In 1969 he was moved to Indian Space
Organization where he was the project director of India’s
Satellite vehicle (SLV-|||). As chief Executive of Integrated
Guided Missile Development Programme (IGMDP), he also
plays a major part in developing many missile including Agni
and Prithvi .
 Presidency

Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was elected as the 11th

president of India, succeeding K.R. Narayan. He
won presidential election in 2002 with an electoral
vote of 922,884 surpassing 107,366 votes won by
Lakshmi Sahgal. He served from 25 july 2002 to
25july 2007.
 Achievements

 Apart from being a notable scientist and engineer, D.r A.P.J.

Abdul Kalam served 11th president of inda. He was a man of
vision, he was always full of ideas aimed at the development of
India. He is also reffered as ‘’Missile Man”.

 He was the 1st scientist and bachelor to chair the position of

president holding largest Democracy.
