ABOUT NEA
 Stands for Nepal Engineer’s Association
 Independent non-profit organization of Nepalese engineers
 Established in 1962
 Governed by an executive body of 15 members elected by the
members of the association
 Major policies decided by various 17 committees
 represents around 17,000 engineers

OBJECTIVES
 To promote development of the engineering science and
technology in Nepal.
 To promote fellowship goodwill and cooperation
assistance among the Nepalese engineers and safeguard
their rights and interests.
 To continuously enhance the highest professional ideals
among the members and widen it.
 To develop relations, fellowship and goodwill with
international engineering associations and institutions.

GUIDANCE FOR TRAINING NEW
ENTRANTS INTO THE PROFESSION
Another major role of the professional associations is to
guide new entrants into the profession by;

 providing orientation and training,


 guiding on the conventions of the profession,
 providing information on the dos and don’ts of the
profession,
 potential pitfalls when the Code of Conduct are not
followed, and
 linking the new comers with established members of the
profession.

 Years of professional experience after graduation - 15 years and
above, and

 To prepare policies, plans and programs for smooth
functioning of engineering profession
 To set norms and standards for engineering education in
Nepal
 To grant permission and approval to carry out engineering
educations to engineering institutions
 To monitor and inspect the quality of engineering education
provided by the institutions
 To provide advices, assistances and monitoring of the

 Chairman: The engineer, appointed by the Government of Nepal, having
Bachelors degree in engineering and minimum of 15 years experience in
engineering profession
 Vice- Chairman: The engineer, appointed by the Government of Nepal, having
Bachelors degree in engineering and minimum of 10 years experience in
engineering profession
 Members :
 5 engineers, working in the engineering field, appointed by the government of
Nepal
 Chairperson of the Nepal Engineer’s Association
 5 engineers, working in the engineering field, elected by Nepal Engineer’s
Association
