CAVALRY

ORTIZ DIAZ MICHAEL

MORENO CASTRO MANUEL DAVID
ORIGIN
◦ Originally, they were free peasants who could buy and
keep arms and horses. They were placed at the service
of feudal lords to form part of their private armies.
Over time, the cavalry became an increasingly closed
group to which only nobles could gain access.

Cavalry was born in the Middle Ages and constituted the main
and most effective martial force. The knight or chevalier was
the professional soldier of the time, the cavalry was correlative
to the decline of the infantry on the battlefield. Four
characteristics distinguished the professional warrior: his
weapons, his horse, his servants and his flag.

knighthood was born in the Middle Ages and constituted the main and most effective martial force. The knight or
chevalier was the professional soldier of the time; in medieval Latin, the ordinary word miles (soldier) was equivalent to
"knight". This supremacy of cavalry was correlative with the decline of infantry on the battlefield. Four particularities
distinguished the professional warrior: his weapons, his horse, his servants and his flag.
◦ In 1943 the first tanks and several armored vehicles arrived in the country, with which the School was organized and began the
instruction of this valuable combat weapon, testing its effectiveness and capabilities through the development of various
technical exercises in all types of terrain. Due to their great strategic mobility, the Knights have, among other missions, the
responsibility of safeguarding the integrity of the Colombian land borders.
