Introduction

• The current automotive scenario encourages

eco-friendly vehicles to attenuate the
damage done by the emissions.
• This can be implemented within the karting
field. Motor replaces the engine and hence
the kart gets dramatically changed in both
design and performance.
• We replaced the fuel tank and the engine of
a conventional kart to an eco-friendly
electric motor and array of batteries.
• 3D modelling and assembly of the entire
vehicle and rendering is completed
in SOLIDWORKS
• Simulation, and Impact testing was done
using SOLIDWORKS

Objectives
• The objective of the chassis is to encapsulate all components of the kart,
including a driver, efficiently and safely. Principal aspects of the chassis
focused on during the design and implementation included driver safety,
drivetrain integration, and structural weight, and operator ergonomics.
The number one priority in the chassis design was driver safety.

By using Finite Element Analysis (FEA), the design assured:

o To ensure that all the systems fit onto the chassis.

o To design a chassis with high strength and low weight

Experimental Work

• Axial Stress Simulation for 800N load in Front Plane was

1.07x10^8N/mm².

• Deformation due to axial force in front plane was 0.2998mm.

• Axial Stress Simulation for 800N load in rear Plane was

6.189x10^7N/mm².

• Deformation due to axial force in front plane was 0.3434mm.

• The proposed design was hence considered viable.

Stress Analysis for Torsional Load

• Torsional testing on the front for a force of 800N is applied and the
maximum torsional shear stress is found to be 6.45e+05 N/m^2 12
Deformation Due To Torsional Load

• The deformation due to torsion is found to be 0.21mm

13

16
Conclusions

• Through this project, we aimed to design a vehicle with a combination of

both electronics as well as mechanical models and also to present it
aesthetically and ergonomically strong. With a very light and robust
frame, pure steering, efficient braking system and optimum power to
mass ratio, the kart can easily fulfill all the static and dynamic tests put
through.

17
Future Scope Of Go-Kart
• Refining the structural design to reconcile with all systems/components.

• To create an affordable prototype.

• To begin procuring components, materials and systems, for fabricating

an electric go kart

• conduct further tests and analysis to check efficiency and performance

characteristics of the vehicle
