Deformation Monitoring
Introduction to Monitoring
• What is Monitoring?
Monitoring is the systematic process of collecting, analysing and using information to track a programme’s progress
toward reaching its objectives and to guide management decisions. Understanding that asset’s behaviour through the
delivery of meaningful data and information.
• Monitoring involves:
The selection of sensors to meet a specific requirement
The integration of those sensors, both within and outside a structure
Observations
Data capture and transmission
Computational power and processing ability
Data and information presentation
Analysis and decision making.
