The Delta Solution

Deformation Monitoring
Introduction to Monitoring
• What is Monitoring?
Monitoring is the systematic process of collecting, analysing and using information to track a programme’s progress
toward reaching its objectives and to guide management decisions. Understanding that asset’s behaviour through the
delivery of meaningful data and information.

• Monitoring involves:
 The selection of sensors to meet a specific requirement
 The integration of those sensors, both within and outside a structure
 Observations
 Data capture and transmission
 Computational power and processing ability
 Data and information presentation
 Analysis and decision making.

• Key Objectives of Monitoring

 The protection of people and property
 Achieving a better understanding of the behaviour of an asset over time (4D information or better)
 Achieving a better understanding of the operational environment
