 MEANING
The literary piece of Amado V. Hernandez entitled “Ang Uod”
compares the life of a human being to that of a worm. The piece
talks about the helplessness and the pitiful state of the worm
who survived the difficult circumstances he was thrown into
when he was birthed in to this world. Despite having no limbs to
help itself, the worm was able to climb from the bottom of the
tree to the core of a flower. The piece then states it being the
same as the life of a human being. A person is born with no
knowledge and strength to defend itself, he was just as helpless
as the worm mentioned in the earlier part of the text. But if a
person willed himself and work hard he will be able to persevere
through any circumstances and soar as high as a bird, albeit
being wingless.
