Momentum is the difficulty faced by


a moving object to undergo a
sudden stop.

Momentum means mass in motion.


Momentum is affected by
two factors which are mass
of the object and its
velocity.

In equation:

Momentum = mass x velocity

p = m x v
Where:
m(mass) = kilograms (kg)
v (velocity) = meter per second (m/s)
p (momentum) = kg * m/s
Mass and velocity are directly
proportional with momentum.

As one variable increases, the other

Example:
A car is moving at a velocity
of 10 m/s. Its mass is 500 kg.
How can you solve for its
momentum?
Using the equation:
p=mxv
p = 500 kg x 10 m/s
p = 5000 kg*m/s

Read and explain the situation to be presented.

A truck full of logs from South lane is beating the red
light and is moving to North lane not knowing that a car
from the West lane is moving forward to East. The driver of
the truck pushed the break but the truck is difficult to stop
which leads to an accident of the 2 vehicles.
How can you explain the reason why the driver can't stop
the truck? If you were the driver of the truck, what practice
should you do in order to avoid that kind of accident? Give at
