Introduction
 India has a vast coastline of 7517 km.
भारत में 7517 किलोमीटर का एक विशाल तट है।
 It enjoys a large area of EEZ(exclusive economic zone) available for economic
exploitation.
यह आर्थिक उपयोग के लिए उपलब्ध EEZ(विशेष आर्थिक क्षेत्र) के एक बड़े क्षेत्र का आनंद उठाता है।
 Protection of EEZ is essential to enjoy continued and unhindered harnessing of the
natural resources.
प्राकृ तिक संसाधनों के निरंतर और निर्बाध दोहन का आनंद लेने के लिए EEZ का संरक्षण आवश्यक है।

 Coastline or seashore is where the land
meets the sea or ocean and forms the
boundary between the land and the
ocean.
तटरेखा या समुद्री तट वह जगह है जहाँ भूमि समुद्र या महासागर

 India has a coastline of 7517 km.

Inland Waterways - अंतर्देशीय जलमार्ग
 An extensive network of inland water
bodies in the form of rivers, canals,
backwaters and creeks generally
navigable in nature.
आमतौर पर नदियों, नहरों, बैकवाटर और खाड़ियों के रूप में
अंतर्देशीय जल निकायों का एक व्यापक नेटवर्क प्रकृ ति में जहाज़ों
के चलने योग्य है।

Territorial Waters - प्रादेशिक जल
 An area of water over which a state has
jurisdiction, including internal waters
like gulfs, bays, and swampy areas and
extending up to 12 NM into sea.
पानी का एक क्षेत्र, जिस पर एक राज्य का अधिकार क्षेत्र है,
जिसमें आंतरिक पानी जैसे कि खाड़ी, बे और दलदली क्षेत्र
शामिल हैं और समुद्र में 12 NM तक फै ले हुए हैं।

Contiguous Zone - समीपवर्ती क्षेत्र
 The contiguous zone is a band of water
extending further from the outer edge
of territorial waters up to 24 NM from
the baseline.
समीपवर्ती क्षेत्र पानी का एक बैंड है जो बेसलाइन से 24 NM

Exclusive Economic Zone - विशिष्ट आर्थिक क्षेत्र
 An area of coastal water and sea bed
within a certain distance of a country’s
coastline, to which the country claims
exclusive rights for fishing, drilling and
other economic activities.
किसी देश के समुद्र तट की एक निश्चित दूरी के भीतर तटीय
जल और समुद्र तल का एक क्षेत्र, जहाँ देश मछली पकड़ने,

 India’s EEZ extends to approx. 200 NM
into sea covering 20,13,410SqKms.

 Which equipped with Fast Attack Crafts to
guard against such attacks and entrusted
with patrolling all major and minor ports
and adjoining coastal areas.

 In order to ensure maritime security, maritime domain awareness including
identification and neutralization of threats is a must.

 The complexity of MDA in coastal and offshore areas is very high due to the larger

 The Indian Coast Guard was formally established on 18 August 1978 by Coast Guard
Act 1978 of the Parliament of India as an independent armed force of India.
भारतीय तट रक्षक को औपचारिक रूप से 18 अगस्त 1978 को भारत की संसद के तट रक्षक अधिनियम 1978 द्वारा भारत के
स्वतंत्र सशस्त्र बल के रूप में स्थापित किया गया था।

 It operates under Ministry of Defense in close cooperation with Indian Navy,

Department of Fisheries, Department of Revenue (Customs), Central and State Police
Forces.
