Everyday, we face the
challenge of finding
answers to many
questions in our lives –
about faith and service,
family problems, career
path, love life, and other
personal concerns!

We try to answer the question:

WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Talking about the effectivity of
our bandwidth, perhaps our
questions could be…

•What are the other items being connected

to us, items which affects the capacity of our
bandwidth?
•Where are we connected?
•What is the strength and capacity of our
connection?
•How are we being tapped to our
connection?
As Christians, we
may not have the
answers to our
questions instantly,
but we should
know already that
we always have
SOMEONE to go to,
Who has the
answer to all the
questions in our
life!
As Christians, an
instant answer to our
question is a
“Christian question”…
1. the ability to judge well
2. (in Christian contexts)
discernment perception In the absence
of judgement with a view to

obtaining spiritual guidance
and understanding
There are seven important
Catholic virtues that we
should integrate into our
lives as guide for our daily
discernment. These virtues
include the three
theological virtues of faith,
hope, and charity (love)
and the four cardinal
virtues of prudence,
fortitude, temperance,
and justice.
3 Theological
virtues as our guide
for discernment.
• Will I grow in my faith in the Lord?
• Will I grow in my hope in the Lord?
• Will I grow in my love for God and
my neighbor?
As Christians, and for some who
are leaders, whether we are
directly shepherding a flock, or
leading a particular program or
ministry, or at least our families,
workplaces, or communities – we
are called to lead people closer to
God, through our WITNESSING
and PASTORING.

Our goal is not to lose

anyone whom the Lord
has entrusted in our care?

HOW CAN I HELP THEM

GROW IN FAITH, HOPE,
AND LOVE?
In our witnessing,
we discern our
personal choices, to
have clarity of what is
right and wrong, and
our goal is to become
instruments of the
Holy Spirit to lead
others closer to God
by the way we live our
lives, by having the
grace to always choose
what is right and
loving.
In our pastoring, we
discern how we can
encourage our brothers and
sisters live a fuller life in
Christ, our goal is to
become instruments of the
Holy Spirit for their
empowerment.
We discern by the leading of the
HOLY SPIRIT, to be His
instruments of becoming an
advocate, helper, encourager.

paraclete
(by Oxford Languages)

(in Christian theology) the Holy Spirit as advocate or

counselor (John 14:16, 26).

ORIGIN - via late Latin from Greek paraklētos ‘called in

aid’, from para- ‘alongside’ + klētos (from kalein ‘to call’).
He said to them, “When you
pray, say:

‘Father, hallowed be your

name, your kingdom come.
Give us each day our daily
bread. Forgive us our sins,
for we also forgive everyone
who sins against us. And lead
us not into temptation.’”
(Luke 11:2-4)

• What will honor God’s name? What is

His will?
• Acknowledging our basic need.
• How should we relate with one
another?
• Acknowledging our humanity.
• Seeking God’s help in our weaknesses.
If we are connected with
CHRIST, our discernment
journey will be…
a journey of wandering
to wondering!
