 What is artificial sand?
 Why artificial sand?
 Natural vs. artificial sand…
 Recommendation .
 Technology for sand manufacture
 Case study.
 Conclusion
What is artificial sand?
 Major contain of concrete.
 Fine material obtained after crushing parent rock.

 “purpose produced materials“

>compressive strength ,
>durability,
>resistance to abrasion and chemical attack and
>impermeability
 Since nowadays river resources are erasing very fast,
and even bcoz of other reasons which we will be
discussing now ……….
Why Artificial sand?

 To overcome natural sand’s disadvantages and

unavailability. … such as
1.Less availability.
2.Governmernt restrictions.
3.Degrading ecological conditions, by decreasing
river bed which leads to floods etc.
4.Produced by deposition after millions of years.
5.Cost.
But on the other hand………………………
Natural sand vs. Artificial sand
as per govn.std. “IS:383-1970”

Deleterious subs. Fine agg.%

natural Artificial
Coal & lignite 1.00 1.00
Clay lumps 1.00 1.00
Mat. <75 micron 3.00 15.00
Soft fragments -------- --------
Shale 1.00 --------
% deleterious mat 5.00 2.00
 Natural sand inherently contains…….
 Marine products:1-2%
 Oversized materials:4-8%
 Bulked sand:6-8%
 Clay and silt ,around:12-15%
 Thus…. In addition…….
 Usable material yield of natural sand for truck load: only
70-75% .
 Cleaning: increase additional labour cost & time
consumption.
 Deficiency :in final fraction of 1mm & below, which is
purposely used as binding material.
 extra addition of usable and safer chemicals can be
done in art. sand.
 Tech. Appraisal of manufacture sand.

1.Clean &contains no harmful material ,produced from

parent rock.
2.Contains all requisite fine fraction, approves good quality
concrete.
3.The fines are within the specific limits of the National
Standard.
Technology for sand manufacture.
 Depends on….
1.Nature of parent rock.
2.Crushing strength of rock.
3.abrasion index.
4.Nature of equipment.
**rocks used as BASALT,GRANITE etc..
Machines used and Working…
 CRUSHERS>
>Compressor:
.. jaw crusher, cone
crusher.
>Impacter:
..Vertical shaft Impacter
(VSI)
 SCREENS:
>dewatering screen,
>vibrating screen
>horizontal screen
Etc……
 Dust collectors:
>jet type dc
>vacuum type dc
Conclusion

Focus on awareness abt crushed sand.

>To overcome ecological probz .
>To fulfill its high need at less cost n time.

 At last according to me …
***Coolest man prepared product from
earth to save earth from ecological probz
and fulfill human requirements…..really
its great…….
