Established in 1905 to fulfil the
demand for medical assistants in
government hospitals.
RAFFLES COLLEGE

 Established in 1929 to promote

arts and social sciences at tertiary
level for Malayans.
 The courses offered were divided
into Art and Science streams.
 Diploma could be furthered to a
Degree through external
examinations in collaboration with
universities in England.
HISTORY
COAT OF ARMS

 The emblem of the University of Malaya was designed under the

council established in 1961.
 The national emblem is divided into two parts, the leader (the upper
part) and the base (the rest).
 The tiger symbolizes the three major races in Malaysia (Malays,
Chinese and Indians). They work together to protect the country and
adhere to the foundation of serving the country.
  University of Malaya has been ranked consistently as the No. 1
RANKING university in Malaysia and among the top 3 universities in 
Southeast Asia.
