LADAKH

Ladakh is a region administered by India as a union territory, and constituting a part of the
larger Kashmir region. It extends from the Siachen Glacier in Karakoram range to the north to the
main Great Himalayas to the south.In the past Ladakh gained importance from its strategic location
at the crossroads of important trade routes.The largest town in Ladakh is Leh.The main populated
regions are the river valleys, but the mountain slopes also support the
pastoral Changpa nomads.Ladakh is one of the most sparsely populregions in India.
LADAKDH’s MUSIC

There music consists of various types


of dance forms and several types of
musical instruments such as Jabro
dance,Cham dance etc.The music of
Ladakhi Buddhist monastic festivals,
like Tibetan music, often involves
religious chanting in Tibetan as an
integral part of the religion. These
chants are complex, often recitations
of sacred texts or in celebration of
various festivals.The musical
instruments involved are
Daman(Drums), Suna(Oboe) etc.
LADAKH's COSTUMES
The traditional livestock rearing has
enabled people of Ladakh to protect
themselves from harsh winters. The
sheep,goats and yaks not only
provide for their food but also
clothing.People weave high quality
thermals,shawls,caps and socks from
the wool and pashmina produce.In
fact,the woollen clothes and
pashmina shawls of Ladakh are
famed across the world for their
uniqueness and warmth.

CONCLUSION
The Ladakh is reach in culture . Its traditonal rituals and
customs is what keeps their heritage rich in culture. Being one
of the places in India which doe not let other culture affects
their. That is what makes Ladakh authentic.
