WHY IS THERE A NEED FOR
VALUES?
for survival, sanity and peace of mind and explains why
values are inseparable from life.
Without value there can be no life, a life itself is a value

Filipinos are well-known for their family-centeredness

the Filipino family
Filipinos give so much value to the family that they labor so hard
and sacrifice so much

9. HUMAN FELLOWSHIP
Fellow human means kapwa-tao
Pakikipagkapwa-tao is recognition to the fact that “You & I” are
fellow human beings

10. NON-VIOLENCE
Violence is destructive rather than creative, divisive rather than
conciliatory; life-denying rather than life-affirming; destroy rather
than builds; divides rather than unites
Filipinos believe that anybody who lives in violence will die in
violence

14. FREEDOM & LOVE OF
COUNTRY
Filipinos are freedom-loving people
Sacrifice everything in freedom’s name: their life, family,
education, career, ambition and future

15. SELF-DISCIPLINE
Existential psychologists profess that man’s primary problem is
no less than himself. That’s why if an individual can solve the
problem of self, it will not be difficult for him to resolve other
problems. This holds true for the Filipinos. For their main problem
is themselves
Social analysts perceive that the people’s lack of self-discipline is
the root-cause of our nationwide problems like graft and
corruption, traffic congestion, electoral fraud, incestuous rape, etc.
16. PARENTAL
RESPONSIBILITY
means pananagutang pangmagulang
invaluable in Filipino culture
consists in the proper upbringing, nurturing, rearing up, training,
and disciplining of one’s own children in order for them to grow
with sufficient knowledge about life, good manners and right
conduct and self-discipline.
