Applied Research

Main aim to discover solution, to provide


knowledge and to applied social research
data into decisions to solve problems.
Basic Research

Is driven by ascientist's curiosity or interest


in a scientific question. The main
motivation is to expand man's knowledge,
not to create or invent something.
Quantitative Research

Is the collection and analysis of numerical


data to describe, explain, predict, or
control phenomena of interest.
Qualitative Research

is research dealing with phenomena that


are difficult or impossible to quantify
mathematically, such as beliefs,
meanings, attributes, and symbols.
Descriptive Research

The research which is determines "the way


things are".
Correlational Research

Refers to the systematic investigation or


statistical study of relationships among
two or more variables, without necessarily
determining cause and effect.
Topic of Inquiry

Inquiry is an approach to learning


that involves a process of exploring
the natural or material world, and
that leads to asking questions,
making discoveries, and testing
those discoveries in the search for
new understanding.
How to Select the Topic of Inquiry

1. Choose a topic that you are interested in.


2. Narrow your topic to something manageable
3. Think of the 5 W-Question
