WHAT IS WEB APPLICATION?

->A Web application (Web app) is an application program that is

stored on a remote server and delivered over the Internet through a
browser interface

->Commonly used Web applications can include webmail, online

calculators, or e-commerce shops

.
WEB APP BENEFITS?

Web applications have many different uses, and with those uses, comes many
potential benefits.
->Allowing multiple users access to the same version of an application.
->Web apps don’t need to be installed.
->Web apps can be accessed through various platforms such as a desktop, laptop,
or mobile.
->Can be accessed through multiple browsers.

.
THE FOLLOWING ARE THE SET OF DESIGN
GOALS TO APPLY WEBAPP
■Simplicity

■Consistency

■Identity

■Robustness

■Navigability

■Visual Appeal

■Compatibility
WEB APP DESIGN QUALITY?
Design is the engineering activity that leads to a high-quality product. Few attributes must be
exhibited to achieve goodness in the eyes of end users and at the same time exhibit the technical
characteristics of quality that will enable you to correct, adapt, enhance, and support the application over the
long term.

.
WEBAPP INTERFACE DESIGN
■WebApp interface design should be perfect so it answers three primary
questions for the end user.

■Where am I? The interface should

->provide an indication of the WebApp that has been accessed

->inform the user of her location in the content hierarchy.

■What can I do now? The interface should always help the user
understand his current options

->what functions are available?

->what links are live?

->what contents are relevant?

WEBAPP INTERFACE DESIGN
■Where have I been, where am I going? The interface must facilitate
navigation. Provide a "map".

■An effective WebApp interface must provide answers for each of these
questions as the end user navigates through content and functionality.
WEBAPP DEMERITS
1. Performance
A web app is directly linked to a web browser. The impact of this can be seen in the performance of
a web application. A large web app performs considerably slower than a native desktop app.

2. Security
Web apps lacks the feature of quality control system. As a result, both safety and security is reduced
to a higher level. However, by the methods such as SSL enforcement, the users can prevent data breach to
some extent.
3. Availability
Web apps are rare to find since they are not available in any App Store or Play Store. Thus, it is
difficult to make an awareness among audiences that such apps are available. Only the audience knowing
their apps will be visiting through the respective website.
4. Web Issues
The web application is entirely dependent on the website. Which means that, if the website happens
to undergo failure, then most likely the application will be failing too. Hence, for the best performance of a
web application it is necessary having a quality website.
5. Internet Dependence
An internet connection is compulsory when running a web application. Still there are many parts of
the world where internet is not accessible. Without a reliable internet connection you cannot either browse
the web or run the web application.
