OSH Programs for Safety Professionals

The Bureau of Working Conditions has several programs related to occupational safety and health: 1. Accreditation programs for safety practitioners, consultants, and training organizations to improve OSH practices. Over 15 training organizations and 700 practitioners have been accredited. 2. Work Accident/Injuries Summary publishes yearly statistics on work accidents and their causes based on employer reports. 3. Work-ALERT investigates major accidents and disasters through a quick response team. 4. Other programs include Work Environment Assessment, Work Improvement in Small Enterprises, and Workplace Initiative on Safety and Health. 5. Several issuances provide guidelines for construction safety, classifying workplaces, and conducting environmental assessments.
