How you might want to start a planned
response
- What are some things to consider when keeping a pet?
Start with a general statement
Keeping a pet is a lifelong responsibility. When one makes the
decision to have a pet, one becomes responsible for its basic
needs and more for the rest of its life.

 Address the question

As such, there are many things to consider when keeping a pet.
(Start with first Claim )

20XX presentation title 18

An example of supporting a claim
Claim 1: One thing to consider when keeping a pet is to ask ourselves if we have the
dedication and patience to do so.
Support:
[Reasons] The pets are reliant on us for food and even comfort, and as owners, it is our
responsibility to look after them. In return, they too give us comfort when we spend
time with them. We also have to do it for the span of their lifetimes.
[Feeling] I feel happy when I see that the owners in the video are dedicated to the well-
being of their cats. I see that the cage in which the hamster is in is clean and well-
maintained. There is even a play wheel for the hamster to play in so that it can entertain
itself in the cage.
[Thought] I am impressed by their willingness to look after a helpless animal that is
dependent on us for food and shelter. I also feel that the owners gain much happiness
from looking after their pets, who are in turn, happy as their owners shower them with
care and attention. It is a beautiful cycle.
