Pros
• The Chrome Operating System is based on Linux kernel, and that is already known as a very solid OS. You
can install native apps of Linux on Chromebook as well.
• When you buy a Chromebook, you get 100 GB of cloud storage free. You can use this storage in Google
drive, photos, documents, spreadsheets, slides, and other Google apps as well.
• Chrome OS is free and open source. The code is available on GitHub. Anybody can see and change the code
if they like too. Compared to other OS (other than Windows and Mac), OSs are very costly.
• Everything loads fast on Chrome OS.
• Very secured operating system.
• Has a simple UI.
• Chrome OS supports Android apps as well.
Cons
• You cannot do heavy editing of photos and videos. You can't install Photoshop and other Adobe software on
Chrome OS.
• You cannot play Windows and Mac supported games. You can play online games but installing Windows and
Mac games in not possible.
• 90% of Chromebook is for internet-connected apps, so you need fast internet to use Chrome OS.
• Most Chromebooks only have 30 GB of local space.
• Most software companies prefer to make software for PC or Mac because they have more users.
• Chrome browser uses high RAM because it contains extensions that use a lot of RAM.
• You need to have internet access to print through Google cloud print.
Security Featured
• Because no security solution is ever perfect, so they deploy a variety of defenses to act at the same time, so
they don't use the wrong one by mistake.
• Users only get asked to make security decisions when there is no better alternative.
• They basically dumb it down for users' convenience.
• They don't believe "perfect security" exists, so they continue to update their systems to continue improving
their systems.
