What is a
species?
INTRODUCTION
A species is a group of organism that all
share the same characteristics
Organism that belong to the same species
can breed with each other.

Their offspring belong to the same species


as their parents.

Organisms that belong to different species


cannot usually breed with each other.

Two organisms from different species do


breed with each other, but it is very
occasionally. The offspring is called hybrids
and it is infertile.
The names of the same species can be very
different countries.

Naming Scientist give every species a two-word Latin


name. All countries in this world will have same
perceptions to give the species name.

Nomenclature.

The scientific name of a species that is set by


binomial nomenclature entails two parts: (1)
generic name (genus name) and (2) specific
name (species)
Apple – Pyrus maleu

Banana – Musa paradiscium


Dog : cannis familiaris

Dolphin : Delphinidae Delphis

Human : homo Sapiens
