Dating, Courtship and Marriage


OBJECTIVES
• Define basic terms such as dating, courtship, and
marriage;
• Explain the importance of courtship and dating in
choosing a lifetime partner;
• Value marriage as a lifelong commitment between
the husband and wife

WHAT IS FAMILY?
Family is the basic unit of the
society. It is a smallest group of
people bounded by kinship and a
common culture.
FAMILY IS CONSIST OF:

-A MOTHER
-A FATHER
-A CHILD (DAUGHTER OR
SON)
TYPES OF FAMILY
1. Nuclear Family
The nuclear family is the
traditional type of family
structure. This family type
consists of two parents and
children.
2. Single Parent Family
The single parent family consists of one
parent raising one or more children on his
own. This family may include a 
single mother with her children, a single
dad with his kids, or a single person with
their kids.
3. Extended Family
The extended family structure consists of
two or more adults who are related, either
by blood or marriage, living in the same
home. This family includes many
relatives living together and working
toward common goals.
4. Childless Family
•This consists of a husband and a wife
living together and caring for each other.
Being childless is either because the
couple cannot or choose not to have
children.
5. Blended Family
•This consists of two (2) divorced/legally
separated people who bring with them
their children from the old families and
decide to live together.
