Physical Fitness
It is the ability of a
person to perform his
or her daily tasks and
still have reserve
energy in case of an
emergency.
Physical Fitness test
It gives you
information about the
status of your overall
physical fitness.

FIVE COMPONENTS OF PHYSICAL
FITNESS
Muscular Strength
It is the muscle’s ability to
produce effort or perform
work. Muscular strength
refers to the maximum
amount of force a muscle
can exert against an
opposing force.
Curl-ups
Purpose: To measure
abdominal strength
Materials: Mat,
stopwatch or ordinary
watch.
Muscular Endurance It is the ability of the
muscles to work over an
extended period of time
without fatigue. Examples
are performing push-ups and
sit-ups in one minute.
90 Degree push-ups
Purpose: To measure the
strength and endurance
of the arms and upper
body.
Materials: Mat
Flexibility
It is the component that
allows all joints in the
body to move in their full
range of motion. Good
flexibility in the joints can
prevent injuries through
all stages of life.
Zipper Test
Purpose: Test for the
flexibility of the shoulder
joints.
Materials: Tape Measure
Cardiorespiratory
The ability of your heart,
blood vessels, lungs, and
blood to deliver oxygen
and nutrients to all of
your body while you are
physically active.
3-minute step test
Purpose: To measure
cardiovascular fitness.
Materials: Stop watch, 12
inches bench box
Body Composition
It is the ratio of body fat to
lean body mass (including
water, bones, muscles and
connective tissues). It is a
simple estimation of a
person’s weight to height
ratio.
Anthropometric
Measurements

Purpose: To determine
Body Mass Index

Materials: Bathroom
Scale, Tape Measure
BMI = weight in kg.
