DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING

•DIGITAL:- Operating by the use of discrete signal to

represent the data in the form of numbers.
•SIGNAL:- A parameter (electrical quantity or effect) that
can be varied in such a way as to convey information.
•PROCESSING:- A series operation performed according to
programmed instructions.
INTRODUCTION

• Different countries around the world use different

currencies for monetary exchange.
• Problem faced by them is inclusion of fake currency in the
system.
• India is one of those countries.
• As a result there are losses in overall economy of
country`s currency value.
How Fake Currency is used in markets?

•Advanced Printers and new

Computer Softwares are used to
create counterfeit currencies.

•Fake Currency can just be

slipped into bundles of genuine
currency.

•This is how they are usually

circulated in the market.
• Commercial areas like banks, malls,
jewellery stores etc. have huge
amount of transactions daily.
• So it is feasible to buy machines
that uses UV and other techniques
that detect the authenticity of
currency.
But What about the common man?
• Is this the only way one can check
notes that whether it is FAKE or
NOT?
• So by using Digital Image
Processing one check the
authenticity of the note Since the
cost of machines is high.
Let us conduct a Live Survey!

METHODOLOGY
• In this system image of Indian Currency note acquired by
a digital camera is the input.

• It is based on digital image processing technique.

• Denomination value of ₹500 is considered here.

• Various different features that are present in ₹500 note are

used for differentiating different denominations
PROPOSED MODEL
1) Image Acquisition:- In this we can capture image by various
ways like camera or Scanner.

2)Image Pre Processing:- It Includes Image Adjusting when we

get the image from the camera. It helps in removing the background
of image and also in resizing the image.
3) Gray Scale conversion It converts RGB image into gray
scale, it reduces the size of the image and also the intensity
information which is easy to process instead of processing three
components R(red), G(green), B(blue)
Implementation till now

4) Edge Detection It is the process of feature extraction and detection
which aim at identifying key points in a digital image.

5) Feature Extraction
When the input data is too large to be processed and contain less
information then input data will be transformed into reduced
representation set of features.
6) Comparison
In comparison the features extracted from the images of the currency
notes plays a very important role. Basically, it is the comparison of the
features that enables to differentiate counterfeit notes from the genuine
ones.

7) Result
The final decision depends upon the intensities of all extracted
features and extracted features of currency note are compared to
conclude that the currency is real or fake.
ADVANTAGES

• This application will prove very beneficial to fake

currency.
• This application is user friendly and easily accessible.
• It will save time, reduce the effort of the user.
• It can be applicable to every economy level.
• Provide cheaper and accurate systems to the user which
can be easily accessible and give accurate recognition of
Indian currency notes.
FUTURE SCOPE
• We will detect any other country’s currency.

• Beside detection we will also give its current

Indian currency value (in Rupee) of that particular
country.

• We will get final output through audio which will

be boon especially for blind people.
