DEFINITION
 Communication Ethics is how a person uses language, media,
journalism, and creates relationship that are guided by an individual’s
moral and values.

 To simply put, ethical communication is communicating in a way


that’s honest, open, clear, and respectful.

 When even one pillar is left out, your foundation of ethics begin to
weaken and crumble.

HONESTY
 It may seem obvious, but don’t lie! Not only is it unethical, but
spreading lies is the #1 way to lose the trust of the people around you
or dear to you.

 For example, in business, spreading such lies can totally lose the trust
of your customers and stakeholders. Without trust, your reputation will
suffer, and customers are likely to stop buying from you.

 So, it is important to speak with facts, with receipts.


OPENNESS
 Do you pair your ‘oppeness’ or being open to others with honesty? Being open
and honest communication leads more quickly to a mutual understanding and
respect for a different views, interests and needs.

 You need to be transparent about every relevant aspects.

 Where forgiveness or an apology is sought, opennes and honesty are prerequisite.

 To simply put, being open and honest builds a sense of self-worth.


CLARITY
 In many cases, misconduct isn’t born out of malicious intent, but
misunderstanding.

 Because every person in your target audience must be able to


understand your meaning, your communication need to be clear and
concise as possible.
RESPECT
 It should go without saying that ethical communications are
respectful and tolerant in nature.

 When communication, be mindful of the diverse identities of your


intended audience and how they might interpret your message.
IMPORTANCE
 Communication ethics requires being conscious of the results of
one's actions and behaviors and respecting and tolerating
differences of opinions or viewpoints.

 An ethical type of communication is important because


it emphasizes people's responsibility to maintain society's peace.
