MY COAT OF ARMS

(Task 3)
(Group 1)
To be able to kill the Gorgon,
Perseus built a line of defenses.
Identify What these defenses are.
Explain the value of each of those
defenses as Perseus faced his
challenges.
Perseus' Defenses
• The Sword • Used the sword given
by Hermes to behead
the gorgon.

• Winged sandals
• Also given by
Hermes,the winged
sandals gave Perseus
the ability to fly (to)
where the gorgons
lived.
• The Mirrored Shield • This was proven to be
the most useful gifts he
received from the Gods.
Because of the
mirrored shield, he was
able to look at
Medusa's reflection and
not turn into stone.
• A Sack • The nymphs of the
garden of Hera gave
Perseus a sack to hold
Medusa's head in it.
~
• Helm of • Hades was the one who
Darkness/Invisibility gave him the item.
Because of the helmet,
Perseus was able to
sneak into Medusa's
lair without being seen
as the helmet makes
the wearer invisible.
Perseus used a sword, winged
sandals, a mirror shield, a sack,
and a magic helmet to defeat the
Gorgon, Medusa. His defenses
were given by the Greek Gods to
help him with his quest to slay
Medusa. These items were
actually very helpful as Perseus
would have more trouble defeating
the Gorgon if he had not used
them.
