Characteristics of service based

company
It generally shows the differences between manufacturing and
service operations. There are 3 main characteristics of service
enterprises which are listed below to highlight the difference
between manufacturer and service orientation.

1. Services are provided direct to the customer:-


- In the manufacturing sector products are generally developed
and manufactured and are sent through a long distribution
chain via wholesaler and retailers before they finally reach the
customer.
- In this service sector, the services are provided direct to the
customer.
2. Services are Intangible:
- Products are tangible whereas services are
intangible in nature.
- Intangibility of services are derived from the
fact that you cannot see or tough a service
action comprises.
- A service is made and delivered on spot and
hence it cannot be measured as easily as a
tangible product.
3. Quality is determined by the customer’s
perception:
- All that really counts is the customer
perception of quality. This is dependent on 6
simple steps:
a. Offer Prompt Attention
b. Have a helpful Patient attitude
c. Listen and acknowledge
d. Resolve Problems rather than pricing blame
e. Set accurate expectations
f. Show appreciation.
