Resume
Short summary of
important information
about the applicant.

Effective if it opens the

door to an interview.

Purpose :

To win an interview
You do not have to
tell everything in a
resume! You can do
that in the interview.

10
1. How long should a resume be?
• Preferrably 1 page only, maximum of 2
pages.
• Screeners will usually not read beyond
two pages.
• It is better to have a short resume that is
read than a long one that is trashed.
• Remember, the resume is only a
brochure. You give the details in the
interview. 11
Format Your Resume
Length:
- One page long
- If you must use a two-page resume, make
sure your name is at the top of the second
page

Appearance:
- It must be easy to read
- Choose a conservative color: white is most
acceptable
Should I put my photo in my resume?
• It is best not to—unless the company
requires it.
• How you look does not determine how
you work.
• Unfortunately, screeners are sometimes
influenced by photos and judge on the
basis of looks so it is best not to provide
that additional detail.
