WHAT IS TABLE TENNIS?
 Table tennis, predominantly known as Ping Pong, is a fast moving
racquet sport requiring exceptional hand-eye coordination. Men and
Women play either as individuals or in pairs and win points by
hitting a lightweight ball over a net so that their opponents can't
return it or are forced into an error.

1880 - The Beginning • Table tennis began in the 1880s when
Tennis players adapted the game to be
played indoors on a small scale.

• In the late 1800s table tennis adopted


the trademark name of Ping-Pong by
1890 - Ping Pong the Parker Brothers game company,
after the name was invented by the
English firm J. Jaques and Son.

• The Ping-Pong Association was
1922 - Ping-Pong Association formed and then renamed the Table
Tennis Association in 1922. This is
important because this shows that table
tennis began getting more recognition
as a sport.

Seoul 1988. This event marks the international
Olympics recognition of the sport and the love of the game
worldwide.
