 Introduction
• In the approaches of specialists, organic farming is a vision
and a practice on sustainable agriculture, which consists in the
use of natural resources and processes recyclable.
• This creates an agro-system that does not resort to polluting
chemicals, which are in contradiction with the certification
standards specific to the organic agro-food production cycle.
 What is Organic Agriculture?
• The term organic farming refers to the promotion of a system
of agriculture that respects the environment and facilitates
modern social and economic requirements.
 What is the role of organic farming?
• Organic farming, also called organic farming, aims to produce
clean food through practices that align with the mission of
conserving and developing the environment.
• In other words, the resulting agri-food products must be fresh
without interfering with natural development factors.
What are the practices of organic farming?

What is the conversion to organic farming?

• Conversion to organic farming is a solution to global

environmental issues such as global warming, acid rain,
biodiversity loss and desertification.
• Conventional agriculture is the third emitter sector in the
European Union.
 What subsidies exist for organic farming?
• Agrointel.ro announces that in 2019 the subsidies granted to
agricultural producers amount to 1.731 billion lei and the
payment will be made per hectare, directly by the Agency for
Payments and Intervention for Agriculture (APIA).
 What you need to do to be able to sell under
the eco-label
• In order to be able to market products under the label of
organic food, manufacturers have to strictly comply with the
legislation imposed by the European Council.
•   The production rules are contained in Regulation (EC) No.
889/2008 and aim to clarify the organic farming processes so
that the resulting products meet the Council's objectives and
gain the confidence of the population in the consumption of
bio-products.
What are the distribution channels for organic
products?
• Unfortunately, in Romania, the market for organic products is
very limited, but there are affordable distribution channels
such as e-commerce stores or online organic products.
•   Less affordable are sales in seasonal markets or directly from
the producing farm, Romania being rather an importer than a
biofood producer.
 Conclusions
• Organic farming tends to completely eliminate agrochemicals
and responds to their excessive use and impact on the
environment, agricultural health and consumer health.
• Even if a reduction in the chemical exposure of agricultural
workers to pesticides has been analyzed after the incorporation
of agricultural biotechnology, there is little research on health
and safety implications for workers in agricultural production,
handling, processing and storage activities.
