Definition of gtm
Also known as the Classical Method, the Traditional Method, the Prussian Method.
The focus is on the study of the target language grammar, vocabulary and ultimately the translation
of native language texts or sentences into target language.

To enable students to read and translate literature written in the source language.
Classes are taught in MTL, with little use of the target language.
The only drills are drills in translating disconnected sentences from the TL into the MTL.
