Create a Cam and a Follower, animate it and Run Kinematic
analysis Step 1. Start designing the cam by clicking on new>part. On the front plane, start designing the cam profile as per the given dimensions using the sketch tool. Step 2: Extrude the cam profile to the thickness of 30mm. Step 3. For assembling with the support, draw a circle on the face of the cam of diameter 24 mm . Step 4. Extrude the circle to a thickness of 12 mm. The cam will rotate with respect to the support through this extension. Step 5. Go to File>New>Part to start designing the follower . Step 6. Using the sketch tool, sketch the layout of the follower of the given Step 7. For the solid body, go to Features and use the Revolve extrude command. Select the axis as mid-axis (vertical) and rotation as 360°. Step 8. Insert a point on the tip of the follower. This point will trace the cam to bring about the required motion. Step 9. Go to File>New>Part to start designing the Support. Step 10. Using the sketch tool, sketch the layout of the support of the given Step 11. Extrude the sketch up to 12 mm . Step 12. For assembling the cam with the support, draw a circle on the face of the support as shown in the figure. The circle has a diameter of 24 mm. Step 13. Select the command of Cut Extrude from the Features option. The cam will assemble through this port. Step 14. For assembling the follower with the support, draw a circle on the face of the support as shown in the figure. The circle has a diameter of 50 mm. Step 15. Select the command of Cut Extrude from the Features option. The follower will assemble through this port Step 16. Go to File>New>Assembly to start assembling the cam follower . Step 17. Go to Assembly>Insert components. In the dialogue box that appears, select the Support and fix it in the originated center. Step 18. Similarly, insert the cam . Step 19. Select the faces shown in the figure and go to Assembly>Mate and apply concentric mate to the components. The cam still has two degrees of freedom, i.e., rotational and through and fro. Step 20. To restrict the through and fro motion of cam, select the given faces and apply a coincident mate as shown. Step 21. Insert the follower . Step 22. Select the follower body and the support face as shown, and apply a concentric mate . Step 23. Finally, to give the cam motion, select the tip(Point1) of the follower and the cam body and go to Assembly>Mates>Mechanical and select cam mate. In the cam path, select the cam body and for the cam follower select follower tip.
