History of Mobiles Platform

• 1993 exactly two decades after


the first call was made. The
portable devices or PDAs had
their first operating system,
known as EPOC developed by
Psion. Released in the early 90s,
this was first of the recognizable
apps.
Android was founded by Android Inc. in October,
2003 and later purchased by Google Inc. in August,
2005.

IOS (formerly known as iPhone OS) was


released on June, 2007 by Apple Inc.

Windows Phone 7 is the first release of the Windows Phone mobile client


operating system, released worldwide on October 21, 2010, and in the United
states on November 8, 2010. It runs on the Windows CE 6.0 kernel

BlackBerry is a former brand of smartphones, tablets, and services


originally developed by the Canadian company BlackBerry Limited in
January 1999.
What are 3 types of mobile apps?
Native Apps:
App is developed for a specific
platform using the platform's native Mobile Web:

WHAT IS MOBILE PLATFORM ?
• A mobile operating system is an operating system for mobile phones, tablets,

such as typical laptop are 'mobile', the operating systems used on them are generally
not considered mobile ones, as they were originally designed for desktop computer
that historically did not have or need specific mobile features.

EXAMPLES 1 ANDROID

• Android is a mobile operating system based on a modified version of


the Linux kernel and other open source software, designed primarily for
touchscreen mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. Android is
developed by a consortium of developers known as the 
Open Handset Alliance and commercially sponsored by Google. It
was unveiled in November 2007, with the first commercial Android
device, the HTC Dream, being launched in September 2008.

Apple Inc. exclusively for its hardware. It is the operating system
that powers many of the company's mobile devices, including the
iPhone.

• Windows Phone is a mobile operating system


created, but no longer supported, by Microsoft. It is
also the term used to describe smartphones running
the operating system.
