Mobile Phone/ Smart Phone Software

• Mobile software is code that allows smartphones, PCs and different devices to run
applications and programs is called mobile phone or smart phone software.
TYPES OF MOBILE PHONE SOFTWARE:
There are two types of mobile phone software:
i. System Software
ii. Application software
System Software:

• A mobile software system is that the code platform on top of that different
programs will run on mobile devices.
• The software system is source for regulating the functions and options available
on your device, like keyboards, WAP, synchronization with applications, email,
thumb nails, text electronic communication and more.
• The mobile OS (Operating System) will also verify that third-party applications
(mobile apps) will be used on your device.
• Here a list of mobile operating systems i.e. operating systems for Mobile Phones,
tablet computer, and other mobile digital devices.
• Android:
• The Android Mobile is a free open Source Linux based OS (Operating system) for
touch.
• Google Play is an official app market that has Millions of apps for Android
devices.
• Samsung and many other top manufacturers are using Android in their devices.
Currently, Android is one of the top OS and is considered serious threat for
iPhone.
• Apple IOS:
• IOS introduced in 29th June 2007. Apple's iPhone OS was at the start developed
to be used on its iPhone devices.
• Now, the cellular operating device is said as is and is supported on a range of
Apple gadgets which incorporates the iPhone, iPod, iPod a pair of and iPod touch.
• The iOS mobile operating gadget is available only on.
• Blackberry OS
• Blackberry OS was developed by RIM (Research in Motion) and it was
introduced in 1999.
• RIM has developed this working gadget for its Blackberry line of smartphones.
• Like Apple, Blackberry OS is a shut supply OS and is not available for any other
manufacturer. The state-of-the-art release of Blackberry OS 7.1 which was
release in May 2011.
• It is a very dependable OS and is immune to almost all the viruses
• BADA
• Samsung additionally owns an OS that’s called BADA.
• It’s designed for mid-range and high-end smartphones.

Palm OS

• Open Web OS

• Window Mobile

Application Software:

• A mobile application, typically mentioned as an app, may be a style of

application software system designed to run on a mobile device, like a smartphone
or laptop.
• It is also called package software.
• Mobile applications usually serve to permit users with similar services to those
accessed on PCs.
• Apps a unit sometime very little, individual software system units with restricted

• This use of app software system was originally popularized by Apple Inc. and its
App Store that offers thousands of applications for an iPhone, and iPod.
Types of Mobile Application

There are three types of apps:

1) Native Apps(Native cell apps are exclusively constructed for a specific kind
of Operating system. Apps are constructed on one type of system cannot be used on
every other OS. In other words, Android apps can’t be used on the iPhone.)
2) Mobile Web Apps(These are software program functions that behave in a
trend almost like native applications. Web apps use a browser to run and are
typically written in HTML5, JavaScript or CSS.)
• Hybrid Apps(Hybrid are the mixture of mobile web apps and native apps. These
apps developed using technologies like Markup language, CSS, JavaScript, Query,
Mobile JavaScript frameworks, Phone Gap etc. Like Native apps, Hybrid apps are
additionally installed in the device and allotted through the app store. )
