Classification
Learning Objective
At the end of the exercise the students are expected to:
• Recognize the major group of plants
• Differentiate one group from the other
• Classify plants to their major group
• Recognize the environmental and ecological benefit from plants
As to Mode of Nutrition
Autotrophic
• Plants that can manufacture their own food
• Usually green due to the presence of chlorophyll
Heterotrophic
• Plants that are non-chlorophyllus
• They get their nourishment from other plants by living as
parasite, absorbing nutrient from tissue of their host
As to Capability to Bear Flowers
Non-Flowering
• Plants that do not produce flower

Flowering
• Plants that bear flowers as their reproductive organ
