Frogs: Let’s Hop to it!

STANDARD

 LS2-5-3. Construct and argument with evidence that in a


particular habitat some organisms can survive well, some
survive less well, and some cannot survive at all.
OBJECTIVES
 Students will be able to identify how frogs thrive in their environments
and some of the difficulties they face in that same environment.
 Students will be able to identify the environment of a frog and discuss
what frogs need in order to thrive.

 Each student must choose one of


the five Species of Frogs available
 American Bull Frog
 American Green Tree Frog
 Northern Leopard Frog
 Glass Frog
 Poison Dart Frog
Frogs: Let’s Hop to it!

 Groups will be formed based on what frog each student gets.


 Groups will work together to get the information needed to make a group poster and
teach the rest of the class all about what their frog needs to survive.
 Examples will include
 What is the best environment for your frog?
 Where is the worst environment for your frog?
 What is the diet for your frog?
 How much food is needed each day?

 Lets make some posters!!!!

 Groups will decorate posters as a group to teach the rest of the class
 Requirements for posters:
 A title for your poster
 At least one printed picture of your groups frog or frog’s environment will need to be on
the poster
 At least one drawing of your groups frog or frog’s environment will need to be on the
poster
 What your frog eats and how much it needs to eat each day
 One book your group used about your frog needs to be referenced
 All the names of your group members needs to be on the poster

 Let’s Summarize!!!!
 Each student will randomly select a frog to study
 Groups will be formed based on what frog each student
gets
 Groups will work together to make a poster that they will
use to teach the class about their frog and their frog’s
environment

 Let’s See what we have all learned!!!

 I will ask each student one thing they learned about the
frog they were asked to study and one thing that they
learned about another frog that is different from their
own.
