INTRODUCTION
A sequence is an ordered set of number. Each
number in the sequence is a term of the sequence.
A sequence may be an infinite sequence that
continues without end, such as the natural
numbers, or a finite sequence that has a limited
number of terms, such as {1, 2, 3, 4}.
ACTIVITY 1
Jackson wants to save money in two years to buy a laptop that cots RM3500. He
saves RM30 in the first month. RM40 in the second month and RM50 in the third
month. Does he have enough time to save the money ? Explain.
T1=10(1)+20=30 T15=10(15)+20=170 Total amount of money saved:
T2=10(2)+20=40 T16=10(16)+20=180 30+40+50+60+70+80+90+100+110+120+130+140+150+160+
T3=10(3)+20=50 T17=10(17)+20=190 170+180+190+200+210+220+230+240+250+260=RM3480
T4=10(4)+20=60 T18=10(18)+20=200
T5=10(5)+20=70 T19=10(19)+20=210 The price of laptop:RM3500
T6=10(6)+20=80 T20=10(20)+20=220 Jackson’s two year of savings:RM3480
T7=10(7)+20=90 T21=10(21)+20=230 Jackson’s two year of savings – the price of laptop=
T8=10(8)+20=100 T22=10(22)+20=240 3480 – 3500 = -RM20
T9=10(9)+20=110 T23=10(23)+20=250
T10=10(10)+20=120 T24=10(24)+20=260 Jackson doesn’t have enough money to buy laptop since he
T11=10(11)+20=130 still need RM20.
T12=10(12)+20=140
T13=10(13)+20=150
T14=10(14)+20=160
ACTIVITY 2
A hydrocarbon compound has the elements of carbon, C, and hydrogen, H. The
following table shows the structural formula and the molecular formula for each
of the hydrocarbon.
Structural formula Molecular formula
H CH4

H C H

H
H H C2H6

H C C H

H H
H H H C3H8

H C C C H

H H H
a)Draw the structural formula for the next 3 hydrocarbon compounds.
H H H H
H C C C C H ()
H H H H
H H H H H
H C C C C C H ()
H H H H H
H H H H H H
H C C C C C C H ()
H H H H H H
b)Make a generalization of pattern for the molecular pattern
=C1H2(1)+2
=C2H2(2)+2
=C3H2(3)+2
Generalisation of pattern for the molecular pattern=CnH(2n+2),n=1,2,3,…
CONCLUSION
How sequence apply in daily life
Sequences are useful in our daily lives as well as in higher mathematics. For
example, the interest portion of monthly payments made to pay off an automobile
or home loan, and the list of maximum daily temperatures in one area for a month
are sequences.

Important of sequence
Sequencing is one of many skills that contributes to students' ability to comprehend
what they read. Sequencing refers to the identification of the components of a
story — the beginning, middle, and end — and also to the ability to retell the
events within a given text in the order in which they occurred. The ability to
sequence events in a text is a key comprehension strategy, especially for narrative
texts. Sequencing is also an important component of problem-solving across
subjects.
