WATCHKEEPING
PRIOR WATCH STARTS:
1. Be ready atleast 20 mins in advance
2. Ensure all power switches/fans off.
3. Pay attention on AC condition.
4. Start from outside accommodation, check smoke. Weather
permitting.
5. Take a round of steering room.
6. Take round of AC and refrigeration chambers.
7. Go to ECR inform to duty engineer. Proceed for rounds
WATCHKEEPING
8. Check all running machinery parameters.
9. Check levels in oil tks, boiler, hotwell, expansion tks etc
10. Where ever practical try to identify sound of equipment.
11. Wherever practical touch/feel for high temperature/vibration.
12. Drain tks, bottles, desludge purifiers etc.
13. Ensure no additional AE running, stby AE ready to start.
14. Return to ECR, try to compare with log book entries. Confirm its
signed.
WATCHKEEPING
15. Any abnormality to be discussed with outgoing engineer. If
, required inform CE/2E of same.
16. Check alarm log for all alarms since your last watch, dioscuss any
abnormal/critical alarm with outgoing guy.
17. Read CE night order book and any unclear instructions ask o/g guy.
