Learning Targets:
1. Explain the importance of SWOT analysis
2. Practice conducting a SWOT analysis for a chosen business
ENVIRONMENTAL SCANNING
An analysis of the environmental is done to
determine what approach to use in the
conduct of business.
SWOT ANALYSIS
 STRENGTHS – are the “internal positives”
of the organization, the assets or valuable
resources of the organization or the
enterprise.

 WEAKNESSES – These are the things


that maybe considered as “internal
negatives”.
 
 OPPORTUNITIES – are the “external
positives” of the enterprise. These are
possible occasions to improve the
organization’s resources, quality or
productivity.

 THREATS – are the external negatives


that may inhibit or prevent the
organization from reaching its goals.
Mini-Task # 1
 Decide on a business that you would like to
establish and where to put it up, then make a
SWOT analysis.
