Objectives

 Enumerate the different general education and professional courses


included in the Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology program
 Discuss the important of general education courses in the
development of medical technologists
 Explain the competencies of a medical technology professional in
the 21st century

 Tasked to organize and appoint members of the
technical panel for each discipline or program

 Monitors and evaluates institutions offering BSMT/BSMLS
 BSMT/BSMLS as one of the allied health programs

 Fourth year – internship training in CHED-accredited training

 1 unit lecture = 1 class hour per unit

 To develop foundational knowledge, skills, values, and
habits necessary for students to succeed in life

medical technology

 Fourth year of the program
 Completed and passes all the academic and institutional
requirements for the first three years of the program, and other
requirements as specified in the official documents of the
institution, college, and/or department
 Two 6-month rotation OR 1-year rotation
Before undergoing

 Laboratory examination
 Complete blood count
 Urine analysis
 Fecal analysis
 Chest x-ray
 Sputum microscopy (?)
 HBsAg and anti-HBs screening
 Drug testing (for methamphetamines and cannabinoids)
 Proof of vaccination for hepatitis B

Licensure Examination
 To identify graduates who possess the basic qualifications or the
minimum conceptual skills and technical competencies to perform
the tasks with minimum errors
 Professional Regulation Commission
 Administering body to different professionals
 Professional Regulatory Board of Medical Technology
 Prepare and administer the examination to graduates of MT
PRB of Medical Technology

 Chairperson – pathologist
 Two members – both registered medical technologists
 Should be holders of PRC license

 General weighted average of 75%
 Have no rating below 50% in any major courses; and
 Pass in at least 60% of the courses computed according to their
relative weights

 21 years old and above – will be issued a certificate of


registration and a PRC card as a licensed medical
technologist
 Younger than 21 years old – waiting time

 Examinee failing three times – enroll to a refresher course


before retaking the examination
 General weighted average of 70% to 74.9% may apply as
a medical laboratory technician
