    Examples of abbreviations with their meanings
    • Ave. Means Avenue (a wide road with trees or tall buildings on both
    sides)

    • Blvd. Means Boulevard (a wide road in a city, usually with trees on each
    side or along the centre

    • Dr. Means Drive ( when it is a part of a street name, for example 6


    Queen’s Dr.

    • Rd. Means Road (way or street)


    • St. Means Street
    .
    • Oz. for ounce (= 28 grams) (also the same in
    plural form).
    • Mi. For mile or miles , so there is no need to
    add “s” to indicate more than one mile.
    • Mt. is a written abbreviation for mount or
    mountain.
    • Cm. is for centimeter
