OUTLINE:
Introduction BNN ANN ARCHITECHTURE MATHAMATICAL MODEL FIRING TECHNIQUE APPLICATIONS DISADVANTAGES

INTRODUCTION:
VLSI stands for very large scale integration . involves packing more and more logic devices

into smaller and smaller areas circuits that would have taken broadfulls of space can now be put into a small space few millimeters VLSI circuits are everywhere ... your computer, your car, your brand new state-ofthe-art digital camera, the cell -phone, etc.

Biological neural network:

 Receive, analyze

&transmit. synapses-interface Electrochemical process. 0.055V

Connections of nerve cell:

What is a Neural Network? A method of computing, based on the interaction of multiple connected processing elements.

What can a Neural Net do?

Compute a known function Approximate an unknown function Pattern Recognition Signal Processing Learn to do any of the above

ANN:
Models of the brain and nervous system Highly parallel
Process information much more like the brain than a serial computer

 Learning

ANN:
Involves large number of mux s , adders,

transig (sigmoid)function.

ANN:

X1W1 + X2W2 + X3W3 + ... > T

McCulloch and Pitts model (MCP).

Where can neural network systems help

when we can't formulate an algorithmic

solution. when we can get lots of examples of the behavior we require. learning from experience when we need to pick out the structure from existing data.

APPLICATIONS OF NEURAL NETWORKS IN MEDICINE

Can be applied in: -diagnostic systems: detect cancer and heart problems -biochemical analysis: analyze blood, track glucose levels in diabetics. -image analysis: tumor detection in sonograms -drug development: drugs for treating cancer, AIDS.

DISADVANTAGES:
advances in the world of computers. embedded systems, where intelligent devices

are put inside everyday objects
