FISH IMPORTATION SA KABILA NG CLOSE FISHING SA BANSA
The Philippine government has approved the importation of 25,000 metric tons of fish to cover supply
requirements for the closed fishing season from November 2022 to January 2023. The Department of Agriculture
(DA), on November 10, issued Special Order No. 1002 series of 2022, which provides guidelines for the
importation of frozen round scad, bigeye scad, mackerel, bonito, and moonfish for wet markets during the closed
fishing season. The order of importing 25,00 metric tons of fish was signed by Agriculture Senior Undersecretary
Domingo Panganiban. This order is to be issued on or before December 15, 2022 with a validity Period of 45 days
from the date of issuance as to it has been said that no import clearances shall be deemed valid after
January 30, 2023.
WHAT IS CLOSED FISHING?
The closed fishing season is usually implemented every year from November 15 to February 15 of the following
year. Within the conservation area, catching sardines, herrings (Clupeidae), mackerels (Scombridae), and other
species was effectively prohibited.

people to increase from 8 billionto 8.5 billion by 2030, 9.7 billion by 2050, and 10.4 billion people by 2080s and
remani that level until 2100.
