It is popularly believed that its tradition dates back to 1621, when the
first English settlers in North America gathered to celebrate their first
harvest and give thanks to God. At that celebration in Plymouth, some
Wampanoag Indians appeared and ate and drank with the settlers. But like all
founding myths, very few of these things are true, and the feast as it is now
known dates back to the 19th century.
 TRADITIONAL DINNER

Let's start with what's important: there is no Thanksgiving without

turkey, or without a vegetarian version. It is the main dish around
which the whole menu revolves, the one that requires the greatest
preparation and the utmost care, because despite its simplicity it can
be easy to spoil it. It is a very large animal, perfect to satiate the
appetites of large families and there is always, always meat left over.
 MOST COMMON ACTIVITIES

When the whole family is seated around the table, in addition to giving
thanks for the food and for being together, ask each person to share
with the rest a situation for which he or she is grateful this year. Include
the little ones in the activity so that everyone participates and shares a
special moment.

WHAT'S NEXT AFTER THANKSGIVING DINNER?

The Friday following Thanksgiving is the opening of the holiday

shopping season, known as Black Friday. Stores and stores offer big
markdowns and discounts.
