Here are Five ways to use the verb Do/Does

One way is simply as a verb by itself

Do/Does as a verb by itself.


    

I do the dishes. You do the laundry. She does her homework. We do nothing. They do everything!

Turn to your partner and say


  

I do my laundry on Saturday.or My wife does the laundry on Saturdayor My husband does the laundry on Saturday!

Use do as an infinitive with another verb


     

I want to do the dishes. She likes to do her homework. They like to do laundry on the weekends. We are going to do the laundry on Monday. We need to do the laundry next week. I have to do the laundry tomorrow.

Turn to your partner and say


      

I like to do the dishesor I hate to do the dishes. I like to do the shopping. I hate to do the shopping. I want to do the laundry. I hate to do the laundry. I have to do the laundry.

Use Do to form a question? ? ? ?


    

Do you like ice cream? Does she like coffee? Do they go to the movies? Do you like to do the dishes? Does she like to do the dishes?

Turn to your partner and ask.


 

Do you like coffee? Do you like to go to the movies?

Use do to form the negative


   

I do not like coffee(I dont like coffee) You do not like ice cream. He does not like to go to the movies. They do not eat steak.

And finally! Use do as emphasis!




  

We use do before a verb to indicate emphasis!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do clean my room!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do wash the dishes!!!!!!!!!!!! I do do the laundry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
