MURDER OF GEORGE FLOYD

• On May 25, 2020, in Minneapolis he was killed

by a police officer called Derek Chauvin
• First he was arrested, the reason was: using a
counterfeit 20$
• He did not want to get in the car because of
claustrophobia and anxiety and offered to lie on
the ground
• He lied down and Chauvin knelt on Floyd’s neck
for more than 9 minutes
• Floyd told the police man that he can’t breathe
but he did not stop kneeling nor checked his
pulse when Floyd went unconscious

countries were protests supporting
BLM (millions of people took to
the streets)
• First it went peacefully but later
the protesters and the police turned

TRIALS OF THE POLICEMEN

• Chauvin:
• guilty of all charges,
• second- and third-degree murder,
• 22.5 years in custody, but because
of „particular cruelty” just 12.5
years
• Kueng, Lane and Thao:
• Lane released on bail
• Kueng released on bail
• Thao released on bail
